easyFLEX BoltCare on Edvard Grieg

Scope of work

On this project, StS has delivered more than 150 bolt care in different dimensions.

The StS easyFLEX product portfolio includes a type of bolt protection, boltcare. This product has many unique properties, which Lundin in collaboration with Bilfinger on the Edvard Grieg platform has chosen to use in connection with the Solveig project.

Solveig is located about 15 kilometers south of the Edvard Grieg platform, and was proven in 2013. The field will be developed with subsea installations connected to Edvard Grieg where the well stream will be processed.

As StS's production line is located in Bergen, we managed to produce most of them during 4 hectic weeks. This is unique in the situation we are and have been in during the Pandemic, where long delivery times are normal. Made in Norway is more important than ever.

The bolt care is a flexible design for fire protection of flanges and bolts. It can be used on both insulated and uninsulated pipelines.

If necessary, the system can be designed to ensure an air gap between the bolt care and the flanges or bolts to be protected.

The system has been tested for explosive overpressure of 1.2 bar and jet fire with a heat load of 350kW / m² (1350 ° C) up to 39 minutes. This is an advanced and flexible product with regard to inspection and maintenance of flanges and bolts.

In addition to Boltcare, more than 50 fire jackets were also delivered for the project.
